Welcome
to Waggy Tales
of Fantasy and Fun for All Ages
Today's
Bernie Tale is called De-fence day.... As you
may remember Bernie the black rabbit appeared in the field
behind my house some 4 or so months ago. Today he is still
playing in the field in spite of the fox who regularly sniffs
about Bernie's home, and the Hawks which daily sit in the
trees overhead. Bernie keeps a lookout just in case, although
one day he was nearly a goner when a huge hawk sat watching
him. I happened to notice Bernie lying silent in the grass
and thought he might be dead, so I clapped my hands and called.
This frightened the hawk away, so that as soon as it had gone,
up popped Bernie's head! Bernie then hopped over into the
bushes at the edge of the field. Tonight Bernie and three
of his family are running about in the sunshine. The title
of today's Waggy Tale was inspired by the new fence which
the farmer has put up along the edge of the field this week.
It makes it difficult for the creatures to get into the ditch
and bushes where their homes and safety lie.
Mo was
climbing along the roof of the stables when he heard some
men talking. He kept very still so that he would not be noticed,
and he listened carefully. " We've got 5 guns for Friday,
so let's
make sure the fencing is finished before then. That way we
can catch some of the creatures when they get caught trying
to get through the stock wire. I epect quite a few will get
stuck. That should give our shooters some fun. They're bound
to bag quite a lot". What he heard made poor MO shiver
with fear, not for himself, beacuse he could always hide inside
the house, but for all his friends, who would have nowhere
to hide if the men cameupon them unexpectedly. He waited really
silently until the men left, then Mo ran like a mad thing
to Bernie's home. All the rabbits were outside frolicing in
the sun, even Bernie, except for one. Old mother Sira lay
with her eyes shut, enjoying the warmth after weeks of rain
which had made her old joints awfully stiff. Mo ran amongst
them at such a pace that he knocked over two of the babies,
apologising as he passed them, until he was beside Bernie.
He grabbed his friend's ear, shook it back and forth, and
yelled in Bernie's ear. Quick, quick, come over here, you've
got to listen to this NOW".
To be continued
tonight and tomorrow......Love waggy"
There
are more Berie and Mo Tales to come. I'm just a bit slow getting
them uploaded. Oh, yes by the way, Bernie has survived for
these last few months and has grown a lot. He plays happily
in the field behind my house every day.
